Rick has spent the last 10+ years operating as a venture capitalist using his own funds.  As deal flow continued to increase, he and a team his of former employees and partners decided to create a fund that invested in entrepreneurs to help them develop and grow an organization to support their ideas and to help them realize their dreams. This is INVICTA.

Rick Covert’s entrepreneurial drive emerged as a young college student at Stetson University when he struggled to pay tuition. He launched an office cleaning company, learning firsthand the joys – and struggles – of attracting customers, hiring staff, and making payroll. Rick’s hard work paid off, covering the cost of his college education and allowing him to earn a BS in Finance, and an MBA.

As an entrepreneur, Covert formed and helped build several ventures. As Co-founder and CEO of First Choice Emergency Room (FCER), Covert took the business from a small start-up to the nation's largest network of independent freestanding emergency rooms. Consistently ranked as one of DFW's fastest-growing companies, FCER grew to more than450 employees and over $100 million in annual revenue. Taking the company public in2014 as Adeptus Health, with Covert as Chairman of the Board, FCER eventually grew to more than 3,500 employees in over 100 locations across 5 states and a $2.5b market valuation.

Having experienced the challenge of providing for his college tuition, he and his wife Allison established a scholarship at Stetson to help future entrepreneurs face financial difficulties with the assistance necessary to complete their education. In this same spirit, Covert serves as Chairman of the Board of the C5 Youth Foundation of Texas, which engages "high potential youth from risk-filled environments" to help them pursue personal success and be active leaders in their communities. Additionally, Covert serves as a Board Member of 108-year-old Dallas-based Vista Bank and has served on the Parents Council at Southern Methodist University and Tulane University.
